Training: Hoarding Disorder: A Collaborative Approach
January 23 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
This training is being offered by: Aging Remix, Inc. and The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals along with support from The Substance Use and Mental Health Leadership Council of RI.
The purpose of the training is to educate professionals and community members who seek to improve outcomes for people who hoard and to reduce consequences, such as losing housing, related to hoarding for residents of Rhode Island. Community Mental Health Centers, RI Hoarding Task Force, and anyone interested in attending are welcomed to sign up for the training.
Hoarding is a complex mental health condition recognized as a distinct mental illness. Individuals with this disorder have a pathological attachment to their possessions, which is often more important than human relationships.
This introductory workshop will help participants explore the distinctions between clutter, chronic disorganization and hoarding along with treatment and intervention strategies. |
